September & October Book Review
My happy place these days is parked between Kindle Ave & Urban Fiction Lane with a few other books sprinkled in. The past two months of reading have been good.
Some of these reads were too good not to share, so let’s get into my read review for September & October.
Losin’ Control- There is nothing like a slow burn of two individuals navigating separate journeys in life. Somehow finding a way to connect in love in the most assuming and unpredictable way. Czar & Marley’s story was one that had me captivated from beginning to end. I loved this read… 10/10
Half on a Baby - This book is the sequel to Losin’ Control. While a very shorter read, the love for both Czar & Marley was still there as they go from lovers to parents. This book had me wanting more of their story. 7/10
The Wife Before- If you have read Verity or like a psychological thriller, this is the book for you. A page turner for sure, it will leave you attempting to put all the pieces together as you read along. While I did want a different outcome, it was a good read 7/10
King of Ashes- This was a book we read for the Girl Be You Book Club. SA Cosby has easily become my favorite author. I have read all of his books. While this book was really good, it didn’t make it high up on my list of favorites. SA always does a great job of telling the story, bringing the reader in, making you question the moves of every character. 8/10
Lost in Your Presence- This is the 4th book in the Evermore series. The love story between Orielle & Najee was so good that I was rooting for them on the first page read. Both Orielle & Najee face their own personal struggles as they try to merge their lives together. If you want a good book, a special love story, you have to read this book. Go ahead and read the whole Evermore series! 9/10
Fast- Fair warning, this book is HEAVY! It is broken into two parts of Caprice’s life. It is very clear that the people who should have protected her let her down. Following her young love story to her adulthood love that in the most unassuming way connects her back to right the wrongs of her past. This is a 10/10 read.
Danger Series- I’m going to tell you right now, this is a book series that I would read over and over again! Following the love and life of the Danger brothers, Diesel, Dymon, & Declan will have you completely in a chokehold. This book series is will and has always stayed on my mind. If there was a series to read, this is the ONE! 10/10
Crenshaw Kings- I am beyond sad that this book series is over. I gotta tell you though, it was an amazing book series. While every book is a standalone. These books follow the live and love stories of parents and sons & daughters alike. Shvonne Latrice does such a great job of telling both layered stories that in a very creative way is woven together. Every single book was great! ertre I wish there were more books to read in this series. I miss them already lol. 10/10
107 Days- I absolutely loved this book so much. I appreciate Kamala Harris telling her side of the story with vulnerability, honesty, and in her own way on her own time. What I loved that was highlighted most was her ability to lead a team. Personally, it was a great read! 10/10
Don’t Cry For Me- Daniel Black has easily become one of my favorite authors. I read Perfect Peace by Daniel Black; it was such an amazing book. This book did not disappoint. A letter from a father to a son. A father sharing his life and why he took the actions and loved the way he loved. This was a great read. 9/10
Applying Pressure- This was the most unhinged love story that I have ever read. I mean, at some points, I loved the interactions, then at another point, I was thinking this is too wild for me. 9/10
Parachutes- This 3-book series was literally the wildest rollercoaster ride of emotions ever. Vin &Tahli’s love story turned me every which way but loose. I had such a love/ dislike for this book that it was a great book though. 8/10
Product of the Streets- Reading this series literally has me believing that I am a part of the Union City Kings (the organized crime family) in this book. This book is layered with great storytelling of family loyalties, street respect woven with such love stories of all the characters drizzled heavily with SMUT. These books definitely have me locked in. I highly recommend reading this book series. 9/10
