I remember it like it was yesterday 13 years ago, my 25th year birthday party. My friends and family showed up it was a great time. So many memories made with laughs, gifts, cards and taking so many pictures. During the party my mom says one line to me that has stayed with me all these years later.

“Jee, Happy Birthday enjoy this time life is going to go fly by now.”

If you are a Martin fan like I am you know that Tommy was accused and proven on several instances of never did have a job. Be it Martin, Gina, Pam or Cole they were exhausted when Tommy would make a reference to his job. With much attitude and frustration the next comment would be, “Tommy, You ain’t Got no job!

Here I am in May 2021 saying those words to myself, “Tommy You ain’t got no job!”

Unlike Tommy I really was employed with a pretty nice job. The words you never want to hear is, “I’m really sorry, we are going to have to let you go.”

Lessons learned aren’t realized in the moment. Lessons are quiet. Lessons don’t stomp through out lives getting our attention. They come in subtle ways, years later, overlooked as annoying conversations, often it is after we have made many wrong turns in life, rushed reactions to situations. Leaving us pondering how life would be different if we had embraced the lesson in the moment.

April has always brought me so much joy. It was a reminder that school was almost out when I was younger, the cold weather in the Midwest had the potential of seeing fewer days. Be cautious there could be snow in April never know. Most importantly my birthday is this month! A couple of years ago I decided to really celebrate each year. So many people don’t make it and life is to be enjoyed. I also share my birthday month with my Grandma, three days apart to be exact. It was our special connection, with 20 grandchildren and 15 great grands this was our special connection. Our birthdays and conversations was our special bond not to be shared with anyone but us.
