There is no greater agony than bearing the story untold in you.
~Maya Angelou
Life is tough, the world can be loud. We can be even loud repeating our fears to ourselves. Girl it’s important to find your quiet, embrace your path, remind yourself everything you need within you.
You are enough!
It’s my hope my words and experience inspire you.
Don't let comparison rob you of the most beautiful life you can live being.
With Every Step, Girl, Be You
Trust the Struggle!
Life is a series of rock bottoms in my opinion. My personal rock bottom experience that stands in particular a few years back, a bit embarrassing but here we are. I was on my way to get my hair done or so I thought. I gathered my keys, belongings, started walking to my car that was no longer there. Why you ask? Oh it was repossessed. Looking up and down the block my heart sank realizing my car was gone. Nah, for real like GONE! I walked back in the house with no tears to cry, called my daddy.
Jesus & Therapy
I grew up in somewhat of a strict Pentecostal household. My father has been preaching and pastoring over 30 years. From my mother’s womb all I knew was church and church conventions. Once my father started his church every time those doors opened, we were there. The services were too many to count. It was the Tuesday night prayer service that stands out in my mind most. Grabbing that prayer pillow to kneel during prayer is my fondest memory. I felt a sense of comfort and peace being surrounded by the prayers of my parents and the church members.
Why I Created Girl Be You!
From 1st grade until high school I was teased for who I was, let me be clear I was a NERD! . Back in the 90’s I was “Four Eyes” every day at school, Warby Parker, Zenni or any other fashionable eyewear line just Pearle Vision. The library was my secret escape, peace and books.
I’m a Masterpiece
When I am having a rough day there is nothing better than turning on some good music, pouring a nice glass of wine, blasting your music and just dancing. Jazmine Sullivan is one of my favorite singers. Her range, her sultry voice, her tone, the list goes on for me. On this particular day when I was feeling down I decided to blast, Mona Lisa. I welcomed this dance party with open arms.
